Alistair Overeem was victorious back when the pair met in Strikeforce. |
UFC Heavyweight phenoms Fabrício Werdum and Alistair Overeem will commence battle for a third time at UFC 213, with Werdum claiming the premier victory with a Kimura back in PRIDE FC, before 'The Reem' made it 1-1 with a decision win over 'Vai Cavalo' in 2011 during the pair's time in Strikeforce. Both men recovered from their title fight losses to Stipe Miocic, with BJJ expert Werdum defeating Travis Browne, before Overeem recently knocked out Mark Hunt at UFC 209, a trademark knee in the clinch ending the New Zealander's night. This bout will not only confirm the real winner between the Brazilian and the Dutch natives, but should also serve as a title eliminator, with the victor facing either Stipe Miocic or Junior Dos Santos, with the two facing in a rematch at UFC 211. Werdum is such a renowned grappler, but with Overeem's recent relaxed and conservative displays, don't be shocked if the former K-1, DREAM and Strikeforce champ picks up a knockout victory.
