Can Anderson Silva put the breaks on the Gastelum train? |
After steam rolling former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort at UFC Fight Night Fortaleza, Middleweight prospect Kelvin Gastelum took to Brian Stann's mic to call for a UFC 212 bout against 'The Phenom{s}' compatriot, Anderson Silva, and his wish has just been granted by UFC brass. Gastelum recently exploded onto the 185lbs scene after weight cutting issues, and is currently 2-0 since his most recent delve into the divison, convincingly stopping Tim Kennedy, and just last Saturday, MMA icon Vitor. Gastelum has been touted as a real prospect at Middleweight, with his fantastic footwork and bruising boxing skills, particularly his left hand, and a victory over former 185lbs king Silva, would see a considerable increase in the youngster's stock. Silva was himself victorious on his last appearance in the octagon, controversially claiming a decision win over American Derek Brunson at UFC 208, to pick up his first win since October 2012.
