This matchup would be one of the most intriguing in women's MMA today. |
Arguably the most feared and destructive striker in women's MMA history, Cris 'Cyborg', has her eyes firmly set on capturing the UFC Women's Featherweight title this year against Germaine de Randamie, after officially vacating her Invicta FC 145lbs crown. Justino recently seen here USADA ban thrown out, after she was granted a retroactive therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for a diuretic used during her brutal weight cut for her main even fight against Lina Lansberg, and because of this, 'Cyborg' is now free to compete once more, and is hoping to take on defending champion GDR at UFC 214, in Anaheim at the end of July. Despite Cris' demands, after de Randamie's title success over Holly Holm, the Utrecht kickboxer told how she would be taking time away from the cage, in order to have surgery on ligament damage in her hand, suffered in her 2015 win over Larissa Pacheco. Brazil native Justino's decision to vacate her Invicta FC title, has seen Australian favourite Megan Anderson promoted to the 145lbs title holder. Rumours circulated that 'Cyborg' was planning a return to Invicta to defend agaisnt knockout artist Anderson, allowing a deserved rematch between de Randamie and Holm, before returning to the UFC to challenge the rightful holder. Maybe we will witness an influx of female talent arrive from surrounding organisations, so an exciting fight between 'Cyborg' and Anderson, may be a distinct possibility in the near future.
