An exciting Women's Bantamweight bout gets us underway for UFC 210 in Buffalo, New York. |
UFC 210 sees a Women's Bantamweight clash between promising stars Katlyn Chookagian and Irene Aldana, take place on the New York card's Prelims. 'Blonde Fighter' Chookagian was beaten by Liz Carmouche at UFC 205, in the opening bout of the MSG event, while 29 year-old Aldana, will look to taste success for the first time in the octagon, after her loss against Leslie Smith in her promotional debut. Aldana, a former Invicta FC Bantamweight title challenger, was convincingly stopped by current 135lbs champ Tonya Evinger back in the summer of 2015, but recovered from the defeat to finish both Jessamyn Duke and Faith Van Duin before her move to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Mexico native Aldana, is a five year veteran of the sport, and is prodominantly a striker with 5 of her 7 wins coming by way of knockout, and will most likely hold the ace in the striking exchanges against Chookagian. Katlyn, unlike Aldana, was successful in her octagon bow, taking a decision win against former Invicta FC champ Lauren Murphy, before her loss to Carmouche. The Pennsylvania native is a product of Renzo Gracie, and is a brown belt in the art of grappling, so she may look to combat Irene's striking with her BJJ as the fight goes on. Ultimately, Mexico's Aldana should possess the more rounded game, and her sheer big fight experience should be enough to carry her to a first octagon victory.
Irene Aldana via unanimous decision.
