'Cowboy' Cerrone will serve as the welcoming party for Robbie Lawler at UFC 213. |
UFC 213 has received yet another phenomenal bout, as Welterweight favourite's Robbie Lawler and Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone, have once more been booked to face at UFC 213 during International Fight Week, after their original bout for UFC 205, was cancelled, with former champ Lawler citing a need to recover from his devastating knockout against Tyron Woodley at UFC 201. Lawler, yet to compete since that night against 'The Chosen One', went to war in his two previous bouts, winning a razor sharp decision against Carlos Condit, after finishing Rory MacDonald at UFC 189, in an absolute slug fest. Fan favourite Cerrone on the otherhand, seen a huge deal of success after his move to 170lbs, finishing Alex Oliveira, Patrick Côte, Rick Story and Matt Browne, before succumbing to the boxing skills of Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal back in January this year. The 'Ruthless' one, still retains a high ranking in the Welterweight pecking order, #2 infact, and a win over the seasoned Cerrone, could certainly reinstate him into title whispers. With the Welterweight division fast turning into one of the most competitive in recent memory, contenders like Demian Maia, the aforementioned Lawler and Cerrone, Jorge Masvidal, Gunnar Nelson and even Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson may find themselves on the doorstep of a 170lbs title crowning.
