Thiago Alves returns to the win column win decision victory over Patrick Côté:

Thiago Alves picks up first win since January 2015:
UFC veterans and former title challengers Thiago Alves and Patrick Côté, will go head to head at UFC 210 with both men looking to restart their recently stumbling careers. Alves, on a two fight slide, succumbing to both Jim Miller and Carlos Condit, while Côté was finished by Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone in his last contest. Both men are more than capable on the feet and on the ground, so don't be shocked by a finish!

Referee Todd Anderson got us underway in this main card bout, with a good leg kick to the lead leg of Patrick Côté, but both men were quite patient in the opening minute or so. Both men adopted a Muay Thai style, with Alves scoring a big knee in the clinch, forcing the Canadian Côté backwards. Much of the first round was a feeling out process, before a good shot fell Côté, with Alves smashing some big shots just before the buzzer, forcing referee Todd Anderson to step in between both men as the round ended. The knockdown from Alves gives him the opening round.

The second round began with Côté forcing Alves to fight on the outside, before a left hook caught Patrick, and was followed up with a punishing stiff leg kick. Good striking showing so far from Thiago Alves. Côté managed to get Thiago's attention with a right hand, but those leg kicks were chopping the base of Côté. Another good shot from Alves dropped Patrick to his knees, as Alves remained patient and relaxed. After some warnings for open hands for Alves, the second round came to it's conclusion with Alves again emerging the better of the two.

The third and final round seen a foul through a groin strike against Patrick Côté before a quick restart.  A more aggressive and determined Côté clipped Alves with a stiff body shot, before a double leg was stuffed by Thiago Alves. A huge trip proved to be successful for Alves, who looked to pass the guard of Côté, who defended well. Patrick was trying for an armbar, before elbows from Alves produced a claret mask for the Canadian. A good uppercut found it's target for Patrick Côté, but with just 20 seconds left in the bout, Alves looked comfortable, particularly with a late flying knee, on his way to a decision win
