Mason Jones Would "Love" UFC Debut Opposite Rafael dos Anjos

Recently minted Cage Warriors two-weight world champion, Mason 'The Dragon' Jones has revealed his dream opponent for a potential UFC debut, following his welterweight championship success opposite Adam 'The Love Doctor' Procter last weekend at Cage Warriors 116 as part of the promotion's hugely successful Trilogy showcase.
The 10-0 standout has called for an intriguing clash with former UFC lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos for his potential Octagon debut - in a meeting that has more of a backstory that what would initially meet the eye.
Jones, 25-year-old spoke with reporters, Peter Carroll and Niall McGrath on the latest instalment of The Bash recently, detailing how dos Anjos would be a name he'd love to tackle in his UFC debut - having met the former 155-pound kingpin during the latter's title reign between 2015 and 2016.
"So, when I was in Brazil when I was younger, when RDA (Rafael dos Anjos) had the belt, we had a photo together, I literally said to him - even though he couldn't understand much of my English, I said to him, 'One day this belts gonna be mine'," Jones said. "I'd love to christen my debut in the UFC by fighting Rafael. I've got a lot of respect for him and I trained out of (Roberto) Gordo's before. So yeah I'd love to go in there and exchange pointers and exchange gloves with Rafael, and obviously, he's not fighting a chump."
While Jones has called for a pairing with the Evolve MMA mainstay, dos Anjos - the Brazilian is lined up opposite surging contender, Islam Makhachev for UFC 254 on October 24th. on 'Fight Island' - in the latter's return to lightweight after mixed fortunes a division higher at 170-pounds.
Jones, who has scored four knockouts and three submission win, added the welterweight crown to a vacant lightweight title success opposite Joe McColgan in March this year at Cage Warriors 113.
