Well, it appears former Strikeforce and WEC welterweight best, Nick Diaz is ready to kickstart his fighting career once more - as soon as early next year.
The Stockton striker and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace has reportedly made a test weight cut to welterweight ahead of a return to the division, and currently weighs between 165-pounds and 175-pounds.
Diaz, who featured in an interview with ESPN reporter, Ariel Helwani in late November last year, highlighted his interest in meeting with current BMF championship holder, Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal in a BMF meeting - attempting to avenge his younger brother, Nate's doctor's stoppage defeat to Masvidal.
Whilst Masvidal was initially interested in meeting the elder Diaz - the bout never materialised. In January the promotion is instead, hoping to book a BMF championship rematch between Masvidal, and Nate Diaz - following their UFC 244 headliner at Madison Square Garden.
Speaking with Diaz's manager, Kevin Mubenga - the aforenoted, Helwani, reported that Diaz is "100%" interested in fighting again, as soon as early next year - following a fourteen-week training regime, which ended with a test weight cut - the first time he's cut weight in four years.
Diaz, who recently turned 37-years-old - last featured in the Octagon at UFC 183 in January 2015 opposite former middleweight champion, Anderson 'The Spider' Silva. Diaz dropped a unanimous judging to the Brazilian, which was later overturned to a 'No Contest' after Silva had tested positive for androsterone and drostanolone, while Diaz tested positive for marijuana.
Diaz made his return to the UFC following Strikeforce title success back in 2011 at UFC 137, taking a comfortable unanimous decision win over former lightweight and welterweight champion, B.J. Penn.
Scoring both the WEC and Strikeforce welterweight crowns, Diaz has notched high-profile wins over the aforenoted, Penn, Paul Daley, Evangelista Santos, KJ Noons, Marius Žaromskis, Frank Shamrock, Gleison Tibau, and Robbie Lawler to name a few.
