Anthony Pettis V Charles Oliveira:

Former WEC and UFC Lightweight champion Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis made his Featherweight debut against Brazilian submission specialist Charles Oliveira, after his most recent defeat to Edson Barboza made it 3 fights without a win for the experienced Amercan. 'Showtime', always capable of exciting kicks and strikes would need to avoid Oliveira's ground game if he wanted a Featherweight debut victory. Yves Levinge got us set for the first round with both men touching gloves. Oliveira immediately looked for a single leg but Pettis steered his way to the fence with Pettis showing some good takedown defence. Oliveira landed some good teep kicks before again looking for a takedown but Oliveira landed in his back in perfect position for a choke attempt but Pettis wound up in in full guard before he stood up. Pettis landed two very powerful left kicks to the rib cage of Charles and the Brazil native fell to the canvas in trouble with Pettis raining down with strikes before Oliveira looked for an unsuccessful armbar. Pettis got to side control before a transition seen him wind up on top. Oliveira luckily survived the first round with Pettis landed some fantastic strikes from the stacked guard.

Oliveira landed a good takedown but Pettis called him back to his feet. Pettis then caught Charles with a powerful left high kick. Oliveira was the aggressor after that kick. Oliveira then took Pettis' back and looked to lock in a rear naked choke but the American spun to wind up in full guard. Pettis landed a good spinning back kick to the body before Oliveira landed another takedown.

Oliveira landed a good double leg but Pettis looked to throw up an arm bar attempt but Oliveira escaped. Pettis turned to north south. Oliveira then seen a double leg turn into a falling guillotine for Pettis and got both hooks in to draw a quick tap from the Brazilian to end his 3 fight losing streak.
