Rodriguez claims split decision victory against Caceres

Mexican Featherweight Yair Rodriguez claimed a split decision win over exciting striker Alex 'Bruce Leeroy' Caceres at UFC Fight Night 92 in Salt Lake City. Rodriguez, an exciting, unpredictable striker cleverly out pointed Caceres, landing more strikes due to his precise striking style. Both men started the first round looking for flashy kicks, with Alex Caceres trying his luck his a superman punch, and Yair Rodriguez trying to close the distance with a spinning back fist. Both men often threw spinning strikes at the same time, with both catching shoulders or arms before Rodriguez landed a takedown. Rodriguez missed with an impressive cartwheel kick, really highlighting his flexibility and dexterity. Caceres was happy to keep his distance and try an land some counter shots while Rodriguez rushed in and often looked for knees and strikes while in the clinch. Rodriguez landed more takedowns but began to become almost sloppy with his kicks as the fight went on, as he threw more than he landed. The judges gave the fight to Rodriguez on a split decision as both men bowed and thanked each other for their efforts.
