Joe Lauzon V Jim Miller:

The opening bout of UFC Fox Fight Night seen two veteran lightweights Joe Lauzon and Jim Miller square off. Lauzon and Miller both featured on the UFC 200 card, with both scoring impressive knockouts against Diego Sanchez and Takanori Gomi respectively. Referee John McCarthy got is underway with both men engaging straight away. Jim Miller escaped a quick heel hook attempt from Lauzon as they got back to their feet. Lauzon was applying the most pressure backing Miller up against the cage. Miller tried a spinning back fist that ultimately missed and Lauzon wound up in half guard against the fence. Miller was landing some good shots with 40 sexonds left in the first. The horn signalled the end of the first with Miller dominating the last exchanges.

Round two began with Jim Miller engaging immediately. Lauzon was pushing the pace but Miller was landing good combinations on the back foot. Lauzon landed a takedown and ended up back in half guard. Miller then controlled Lauzon's posture with the rubber guard technique. The horn sounded for the end of the second with both men cautious during the exchanges in the second.

The third round began with Miller applying the early pressure. Miller landed a huge uppercut in the early stages and hand Lauzon against the cage and looked to finish with good combinations but Lauzon survived. Lauzon then seen a double leg attempt success and again landed in half guard. Jim Miller made his way to his feet but Lauzon landed back in half guard after Miller missed with a roll. Lauzon tried a late arm bar attempt but couldn't lock it in tight. They went the distance with Jim Miller picking up a split decision victory over Joe Lauzon.
