'Bigfoot' Silva released from the UFC:

Veteran Brazilian mixed martial artist Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva has been released from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The former EliteXC Heavyweight champion has fallen on hard times recently, losing 3 on the bounce to Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve and Mark Hunt. 'Bigfoot[s]' last high profile win came against UFC 203 Heavyweight title challenger Alistair 'The Reem' Overeem back at UFC 156. He was then rewarded with a rematch against then Heavyweight king Cain Velasquez at UFC 160, losing in the first round once again against the Mexico favourite. Another high profile win for Silva came against MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko in the StrkeForce Heavyweight tournament, eventually won by Daniel 'DC' Cormier. Silva has also seen his fair share of controversy in his career,  after he failed a post fight drug test, testing positive for elevated testosterone after taking testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) which was approved by the UFC. The Brazilian told how he was taking the supplement to deal with his pituitary gland tumour, and told how his testosterone was so low that at one stage, he was lactating without taking TRT. Silva received a 9 month ban for the failed drug test. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from an early age, a venture into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments for the 37 year old may be an option. Rival promotion Bellator may also explore the possibility of signing the now free agent, as they look to expand their ever growing stable of mixed martial artists.
