Conor McGregor fined $150,000 of UFC 202 fight purse and sentenced to 50 hours of community service.

UFC Featherweight champion 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor, has received a $150,000 fine and has been sentenced to 50 hours of community service by the Nevada State Atlectic Commission after his involvement in the UFC 202 pre fight press conference. The incident involving McGregor and 202 opponent Nate Diaz, sparked outrage among some members of the MMA community after the Dublin native McGregor arrived late to the press conference causing Nate Diaz to leave the stage after his arrival. Californian born Diaz, subsequently made his way to the gantry where he was met by Jake Shields, his brother Nick Diaz and the rest of his entourage where he and McGregor hurled expletives at each other before Nate fired a water bottle into the public area where McGregor's coach John Kavanagh, girlfriend Dee Devlin and other members of Team McGregor including, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner Dillon Danis and McGregor's striking coach Owen Roddy were seated. This caused a reaction from McGregor who fired back with water bottles of his own, before launching a Monster Energy drink toward the Stockton native. UFC president Dana White was upset by the fiasco asking Conor why he chose to throw cans, but the Irishman was firmly locked on Diaz. McGregor later went on to avenge his UFC 196 defeat to Nate Diaz, scoring a majority decision victory at UFC 202 after a tremendous 5 round war. McGregor's actions at the press conference have not gone unpunished with NSAC handing him a 5% fine from his reported $3 million fight purse. There was also some talk during hearing that the NSAC may look to the influential McGregor to spearhead their anti-bullying campaign.
