UFC 205 already smashes Madison Square Garden record gate:

UFC 205 has reportedly already broken the record gate any Madison Square Garden of $13.5 million set by Evander Holyfield and British boxer Lennox Lewis in 1999, as current UFC Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez faces UFC Featherweight champ Conor McGregor, with the latter eager to become the first ever multiple weight champion held simultaneously in the UFC. The inaugural UFC card in New York City, also features a Welterweight title clash between Tyron Woodley, and karate expert Stephen Thomspon, while Women's Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends her belt in an all Polish affair against Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Fan favourites Chris Weidman, Frankie Edgar, Miesha Tate and Khabib Nurmagomedov all feature on arguably the greatest card ever assembled by Joe Silva and Sean Shelby. With the gate of UFC 205 reported to rake in more than $13.5 million, it will also prove to beat the $12 million set by Georges St-Pierre's clash with Jake Shields when the pair met at UFC 129 in 'Rush{s}' home country, Canada. UFC president Dana White told FS1 how "we've been in all the biggest and best arenas all over the world, Madison Square Garden is a big deal". The presence of the polarising Conor McGregor on this card will no doubt prove to be a big attraction to fans, and with the return of Ronda Rousey at UFC 207, and the possible return of Georges St-Pierre at UFC 206, the last two months of 2016, may prove to be the biggest in the Ultimate Fighting Championships history, numbers wise.
