MMA legend Dan Henderson announces retirement.

Former Pride Welterweight and Middleweight champion Dan 'Hendo' Henderson has announced his retirement after his UFC 204 Middleweight title loss to defending champion Michael 'The Count' Bisping. The UFC veteran, now 46 years old, was the oldest competing fighter on the organisation's roster. UFC 204 seen the rematch between Bisping and Henderson, with the latter scoring one of the most vicious finishes in recent UFC memory when he drop Bisping at UFC 100, before crashing down on the Manchester native, with a flying forearm. The build up to the first bout seen a huge amount of animosity created by Bisping as the Brit mocked and disrespected Henderson. Bisping's UFC 199 Middleweight title victory over Luke Rockhold set up a rematch between him and Henderson for the England fighters first title defence. Bisping had promised to put Henderson into retirement and vowed to KO his former foe, but was knocked down multiple times in the rematch himself, particularly in the first round when he tried to engage with the patient Henderson who caught  Bisping with a huge right hand which sent him to the canvas before he threw a barrage of elbows from mount before Bisping managed to squirm free. After failing to finish Bisping with his second and third knockdown, the judges made their decision and handed Bisping a surprising unanimous decision victory. An emotional Henderson then told how it would be the last time he'd step foot in the octagon and received a huge ovation from the previously hostile Manchester crowd. The MMA icon, takes an incredible CV with him into the Hall of Fame. Winning the Pride Welterweight championship from Murilo Bustamante at the end of 2005, and 2 years later stopping Pride icon Wanderlei Silva to win the Middleweight title before returning to the UFC where he lost to Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson in a Light Heavyweight title bout and then Anderson Silva as he pursued the Middleweight crown. He then made his way to StrikeForce, beating Brazil native Rafael 'Feijao' Cavalcante for the Light Heavyweight title.  The Californian then moved up to Heavyweight for a showdown with fellow icon Fedor Emelianenko, knocking out the Russian in the first round of their bout. Another memorable bout for Henderson was his rematch with Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua. The Brazilian MMA star had lost a decision to Henderson in a fantastic first meeting and seemed to have been 2 rounds away from grabbing the win before Henderson unleashed his trademark 'H-Bomb' which slept 'Shogun'. The match up between 'Hendo' and Hector Lombard at UFC 199 will also go down as one of Henderson's best finishes in his career. The Cuban dropped Henderson with a pinpoint combination in the first round, forcing Herb Dean to take a close look but the veteran referee gave Henderson a chance to recover as he made it to the second round. In the second round, Lombard looked tired from his barrage of strikes as he tried to finish off Henderson, and the former Pride champ, threw a kick which landed but was caught on the way down and almost Anderson Silva esque, threw a side ward elbow which put Lombard to sleep before flying in with his trademark forearm to set up a rematch with Michael Bisping. Henderson will go down as one of the greatest strikers to ever step foot in the octagon and his Pride Welterweight and Middleweight title victories still to this day make him the only man to hold two titles simultaneously in a major MMA organisation.
