AFC Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspurs:

Eddie Howe's Bournemouth welcomed Spurs to the Vitality stadium on Saturday's early kickoff. Pochettino's side would go top with a win against 'The Cherries', after their midweek UEFA Champions League group stage draw against Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, while Bournemouth were on a high after last weeks 6-1 trouncing of Hull City. Andrew Surman took ill during the warmup as Howe called on former Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling to come in for the former Norwich man. Bournemouth nearly took an early lead, with Hugo Lloris denying Charlie Daniel's effort, not the woodwork. Spurs were also denied by the post woodwork in the first half when Erik Lamela's long range drive seen the bar. Lamela was lucky not to see a second yellow card in an aggressive first half display after a late lunge on Gosling. Before the interval, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela went close to giving the London side the lead. Pochettino introduced Vincent Janssen at the break as he looked for some inspiration up top. A disappointing second half, had one major talking point, when fellow substitute Moussa Sissoko appeared to catch Harry Arter with a stray elbow but no further action was taken by referee Craig Pawson. Bournemouth may have felt hard done by toward the end, with Jack Wilshere seeing a penalty claim waved away after a challenge from Victor Wanyama, before former Arsenal forward Benik Afobe headed over in extra time as both sides shared the spoils, and Spurs missed the chance to go top.
