Report: Cynthia Calvillo vs. Lauren Murphy Targeted for UFC 254 on October 24th.

A potential flyweight title-eliminator between recent division mover, Cynthia Calvillo, and former Invicta FC bantamweight champion, 'Lucky' Lauren Murphy is currently in the works to feature at UFC 254 on October 24th. - with the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, or Yas Island in Abu Dhabi the current frontrunners to host the card.

Making her divisional bow in a UFC Fight Night Vegas headliner opposite one-time title challenger, Jessica 'Evil' Eye in June - San Jose native, Calvillo made it three wins in her last four outings with a unanimous decision triumph.

In the midst of a three-fight winning spree, Alaska native, Murphy last featured at UFC Fight Night Vegas also in June, taking a unanimous judging win of her own over veteran fan-favourite, Roxanne 'The Happy Warrior' Modafferi. Sources close to Ross Markey MMA confirmed the promotion's intention to book the contest, following an initial report by MMA Fighting reporter, Mike Heck.

Calvillo, 33, added Eye to an undefeated run which includes a close majority draw alongside, Marina Rodriguez, and two prior wins over Cortney Casey, and Poliana Botelho. With just one promotional defeat since her UFC debut back at UFC 209 in March 2017 - talented grappler, Calvillo dropped a decision to inaugural strawweight best, Carla 'Cookie Monster' Esparza.

In other promotional victories, the recent American Kickboxing Academy mover notched triumphs over Amanda Cooper, UFC alumnus, Pearl Gonzalez, as well as perennial flyweight challenger, Joanne Calderwood.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt, Murphy picked up wins over both Andrea Lee, and Mara Romero Borella prior to her above mentioned victory over Modafferi.

In August of 2014, Murphy made the move to the UFC following continued success as Invicta FC bantamweight pack leader but dropped early promotional losses to Sara McMann, Liz Carmouche, Katlyn Chookagian, and Sijara Eubanks. Finally hitting the ground with wins, Murphy dislodged Kelly Faszholz and Barb Honchack, the latter in her majorly successful move to 125-pounds.
