Michael Chandler vs. Benson Henderson II Moved to August 7th. Bellator Card

A lightweight rematch between former world champions, Michael Chandler, and Benson 'Smooth' Henderson has been reworked for a third time since December, as the two look to finally lock horns for a second time on Bellator's August 7th. card.

Former Bellator lightweight best, Chandler will look make it two wins since his championship loss to Patrício Pitbull, following a short-notice knockout win over Sidney Outlaw at Bellator 237 on New Year's Eve. This rescheduled matchup with Henderson will serve as the final fight on Chandler's contract.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Henderson has managed four consecutive victories, with his most recent win coming opposite fellow UFC alumnus, Myles Jury at Bellator 227 last September in Dublin. News of the reworked tie was initially reported by Combate writer, Raphael Marinho.

Veteran contenders, Chandler and Henderson first met back at Bellator 165 in November of 2016, with the former taking a narrow split decision win in a successful championship defence. Since then, Missouri native Chandler has compiled a 4-2 promotional record. In triumphs, the 34-year-old has dislodged Goiti Yamaguchi, Brandon Gritz, Brent Primus, and the aforenoted, Outlaw. Since the title defeat, MMA Lab staple, Henderson has notched victories over Roger Huerta, Saad Awad, Adam Piccolotti, and the previously noted, Jury.

Colorado-born all-rounder, Henderson is a former WEC lightweight title, before claiming the UFC lightweight crown when the promotion's merged. As for Chandler, the NCAA Division I wrestler is an incredible, three-time Bellator lightweight gold holder.
