Former Cage Warriors light heavyweight titleholder, Modestas Bukauskas is still set to make his UFC bow on July 15th. - as he meets fellow debutante, Greece native, Andreas 'The Spartan' Michailidis.
Bukauskas was initially pencilled in to meet with Vinicius Moreira on the Yas Island event until the Brazilian was forced from the 205-pound tie after providing a positive COVID-19 test ahead of the matchup.
Riding a six-fight winning run, former Cage Warriors best, Bukauskas is finally set to make his Octagon bow - putting pen to paper on a promotional deal earlier this year. 31-year-old challenger, Michailidis will make his first UFC appearance, after last featuring under the Global Legion FC banner back in December of last year. Sources close to MMA Power Hour confirmed the news of the reworked bout, after an initial report by SportasLT.
From his aforenoted six-fight winning run, Lithuanian native, Bukauskas managed six consecutive finishes. Two submission triumphs came prior to a foray of four knockouts, including wins over Riccardo Nosiglia, and Marthin Hamlet Nielsen. The 26-year-old division prospect plys his trade at Gintas Combat and finished all but one of his twelve professional triumphs.
Athens native, Michailidis was originally scheduled to make his promotional bow for Cage Warriors back in April, in a matchup for the middleweight title opposite, Nathias Fredericks - until the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the ultimate cancellation of the event. Michailidis scored a victory over UFC alum, Marcel Fortuna under the Titan FC banner last April. In his eleven-year professional career, the 31-year-old has established a 12-3 record, having competed under the scrutiny of Bellator, KOTC, and Fight Nights Global.
