Update: The UFC Release Statement Regarding Mike Perry Altercation

The UFC have released a statement tonight, regarding video footage which emerged last night, which shows welterweight contender, 'Platinum' Mike Perry involved in an altercation with an elderly man.

Perry, 28, can be seen dropping the elderly patron with a punch at the entrance of the Table 82 restaurant in Lubbock, Texas. The video footage displays Perry, his girlfriend and corner person, Latory Gonzalez, and another woman approaching the entrance of the establishment after a prior altercation with an employee - before Perry punches the bystander.

Perry eventually exits the restaurant - asking for the police to be called, before directing the N-word at another bystander on three occasions, after telling him to, "back-up".

Perry was not arrested by responding police officers, while the patron who had been reportedly knocked unconscious resulting in him hitting his head off the concrete floor, was brought to a medical facility where he received treatment for his injuries. Table 82 is also considering filing a theft charge against Perry after he left the restaurant without paying his bill.

In a statement reported by ESPN staff writer, Brett Okamoto - the promotion detailed how they would not be offering Perry any fights at this moment while explaining how the Michigan native had acknowledged he has some issues related to alcohol abuse.

"UFC is aware and troubled by the video that was released last night concerning Mike Perry. The conduct displayed by Perry is not reflective of that of our organization. Perry apologised for his behaviour and acknowledged he was disappointed with himself that his actions may have reflected poorly on UFC. He further acknowledged that he believes he has some issues related to alcohol abuse and has informed UFC that he has committed to immediately seek professional treatment, including substance and behavioral (sic) counseling (sic). At this time, UFC has informed Perry that he will not be offered a bout, and the parties have agreed to evaluate next (sic) steps for Perry following the completion of his treatment program."

Perry, who last featured at UFC Fight Night Vegas in June - took a unanimous decision win over Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappler, Mickey Gall, served six months in prison back in 2011, following the violation of his probation after he was convicted of armed robbery.
