'Groovy' Lando Vannata almost shocked the world back in July against 'El Cucuy'. |
UFC 209 sees a Lightweight battle between recently established 155lbs protest Lando Vannata, and Swedish knockout king David Teymur. With exceptional striking skills on display from both so far in their octagon battles, either man is a real, fiery threat on the feet. Vannata, an unorthodox, 'Groovy' striker, implements flashy kicks, and quick hands, while Teymur uses his extremities, particularly his hands to finish fights. 1-1 in his green UFC career, Lando pushed Saturday's co-main event star Tony 'El Cucuy' Ferguson the distance back in his octagon debut in July, shocking the grappler with his standup, before an expertly applied D'arce, brought Vannata literally back down to earth. One fight later, and Lando's unfortunate loss was all but forgotten, as the New Jersey native uncorked a phenomenal wheel kick, stopping John Makdessi in his tracks, and earning 'Groovy' a Performance of the Night bonus. Feared Lightweight David Teymur, was himself bested by Marcin Wrzosek in The Ultimate Fighter season 22: Quater Finals, before bursting onto the scene at UFC Fight Night London, scoring a second round KO win over Martin Svensson, and last August with just one second of a difference, Teymur KO'ed Jason Novelli, again in the second round. Ultimately, Lando's unpredictable nature and the fluidity of his fists and feet, will in my opinion, get the better of the less experienced Swede Teymur.
