Wilson Reis wrestles his way to probable title bout:

Wilson Reis looks destined to be DJ's next challenger.
#5 ranked UFC Flyweight contender Wilson Reis, faced unranked Japan submission artist Ulka Sasaki on the UFC 208 prelims, with the Brazilian knowing a win may finally setup a title bout against Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson, after their originally scheduled UFC 201 bout was scrapped after the pound-for-pound king was forced out with injury. Both Brazil's Reis and Japan's Sasaki are supreme grapplers, with Sasaki holding 10 submission victories to his name, while Reis secured a rear-naked choke victory over Hector Sandoval to also secure his 10th submission win in the octagon. Reis interestingly holds a victory over SBG striking coach Owen Roddy, when the two met at Cage Warriors 50 back in 2012. Experienced referee Dan Miragliotta got us underway for the first of three scheduled rounds. Sasaki opened with a big front kick to the body, and was the notable aggressor early on. Reis was explosive early on, and secured a big double leg takedown, before Sasaki used a kimura to get back to his feet. Sasaki was keeping his hands extremely low, obviously aware of his height advantage, but was once more taken down by the Brazilian Reis. Reis was looking to secure an arm triangle, but Sasaki defended confidently. Sasaki was doing a good job of controlling Reis' posture, as to avoid the earlier displayed elbows from the top. Two impressive takedowns see the first round go to Wilson. Reis opened the second round with a fake superman punch and then a leg kick, before again successfully scoring a takedown. Reis then secured Sasaki's back and got both hooks in, before Sasaki swept him. Sasaki then missed with a takedown, with Reis sprawling expertly, and then wound up on top. The Brazilian again secured the back and a neck crank attempt was defended by the Japan native. Another successful takedown for Reis, again seen the round go to the Brazil native. The third and final round seen Reis push for another takedown, Sasaki defence was on point on this occasion. A good right hand from Reis tagged Sasaki, before another takedown attempt was successful for Wilson Reis. Another takedown was there for Reis as his wrestling was just too good for the Japan native. Ulka Sasaki then capitalised on a Reis mistake, before taking the back of the Brazilian. The third and final round goes to Reis in my opinion, and the jugdes agreed as they handed the Brazilian a unanimous decision victory.
