Exciting UFC Women's Strawweight contenders Rose 'Thug' Namajunas and Michelle 'The Karate Hottie' Waterson will lock horns at UFC Fight Night Kansas City, the winner potentially facing the victor between Joanna Jedrzejczyk's and Jéssica Andrade's scheduled title battle. Namajunas will be looking to recover from a decision loss to UFC 205 featured Karolina Kowalkiewicz, while Michelle Waterson, throughly established her contender status when she secured a rear-naked choke win over the highly regarded Paige van Zant last December in their UFC Fight Night California main event slot. Namajunas is a vicious striker and a highly established grappler, but faces no easy task against Waterson, who holds a black belt in American Freestyle Karate, and is a former Invicta FC Women's Atomweight championship holder, when she secured an armbar victory over Jessica Penne. Namajunas was on a fantastic three fight win streak before her subsequent title eliminator loss to Kowalkiewicz, beating Tecia Torres, Paige van Zant and submission victory over current Invicta FC Strawweight champ Angela Hill.
