Demetrious Johnson Challenges Adriano Moraes For ONE Championship Flyweight Crown

Demetrious Johnson will challenge for flyweight gold on April 11th.

Flyweight all-time great, Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson, will look to add more gold to an already gleaming trophy cabinet on April 11th. as the recent flyweight Grand-Prix victor takes on ONE Championship division best, Adriano Moraes.

Announced by promotion leader, Chatri Sityodtong in the early hours of Monday morning, the matchup is widely expected to headline an event which will take place in China. Johnson, under the tutelage of Matt Hume at Pankration AMC - has dropped a single loss in seven years, in a close split decision to Henry Cejudo in his final Octagon appearance. Since his trade the Singapore-based ONE Championship, Johnson has won three straight fights. A guillotine victory over Yuya Wakamatsu was followed by two dominant, unanimous decision wins over Tatsumitsu Wada, and Danny Kingad. The 33-year-old Kentucky native became the ONE FC Flyweight World Grand Prix Champion with his October triumph over Kingad.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Adriano Moraes recently closed out a trilogy of bouts with Geje Eustaquio with a unanimous decision win, following a 2018 defeat. Before the close split decision loss, Moraes managed four straight victories - including an opening-round rear-naked choke of the aforementioned, Kingad. With an 18-3 record, Moraes has displayed some high-level grappling since his professional bow back in 2011, registering six submission successes.
