Former UFC interim lightweight champion, Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier, is continuing his campaign to stand opposite Nate Diaz in the Octagon this year - and even went as far as to predict a knockout win over the Stockton fan-favorite.
Poirier, who is currently recovering from hip surgery, is planning a return to active-competition in April at the earliest - having lost to undisputed lightweight best, Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 in September last year. The Lafayette striker has been paired with Nate Diaz before - with their scheduled bout at UFC 230 falling to the wayside, as Poirier continued to struggle with a hip injury. Nate Diaz, who ended a three-year hiatus last August - put on a pressure clinic against Anthony Pettis on his way to a unanimous decision win, before a UFC 244 doctor's stoppage defeat in his BMF championship clash with, Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal.
Tension appears to be at an all-time high between the two boxing based fighters, with Diaz garnering a response from Poirier in a rare tweet yesterday.

For Nate Diaz, the 34-year-old was clear regarding his intentions to re-run his anticlimactic defeat to the previously mentioned Masvidal last year - but with the apparent heat surrounding a potential matchup with Poirier, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist may be tempted to share the Octagon with the American Top Team mainstay - especially with Poirier's idea of scoring a knockout victory.
