Jorge Masvidal is eager to go "owl hunting". Channeling his inner Al Pacino effort from the 1995 crime movie, Heat, the welterweight championship hopeful has spoken of his intentions to eventually pair up with division champion, Kamaru 'The Nigerian Nightmare' Usman in the Octagon - or as he likes to refer to the wrestling expert; "that owl dude".

The American Top Team favorite has made a beeline for championship gold over 2019, scoring three consecutive stoppages of contenders, Darren Till, Ben Askren, and in a BMF championship meeting - forced a doctor's stoppage against Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden. The Floridian, who sits at the #3 rank at 170-pounds is yet to be paired for a championship meet, with rumblings suggesting Masvidal will wait to observe the outcome of UFC 246's main event between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone, before making his next match. Speaking with Ariel Helwani on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show - Masvidal issued a personal reminder to welterweight king, Kamaru Usman - who seemed to 'forgot' who exactly Masvidal was during a post-UFC 245 press conference.

"If it's up to my doing, everyone is getting it," Masvidal said. "Especially that owl dude. (Kamaru Usman) I'm going owl hunting. I want some owl soup. This dude, man, he's a little disrespectful with that "who" s**t bro. You f**king know who. And if you don't, we'll get in that ring, and you'll find out who I am, my brother. I will gladly introduce myself to you in the ring."

For Usman, the Henri Hooft trained mixed-martial-artist recently overcame perennial contender, Colby Covington in the final round of their UFC 245 grudge match - and has seemingly brushed aside the possibility of meeting Masvidal, in favor of a legacy-defining matchup against former middleweight and welterweight kingpin, Georges St-Pierre.
