Henry Cejudo will look to lodge the first defense of his bantamweight crown in May.

A bantamweight championship pairing between Henry 'The Messenger' Cejudo and former featherweight gold-holder, José Aldo 'Jr.' is expected to take place at UFC 250 in Sao Paulo, Brazil - taking the event's headlining status.

Olympic gold medalist, Cejudo, recently vacated his flyweight crown in order to switch attention to bantamweight waters - having besting Marlon Moraes in a vacant title bout last June. Hometown favourite, Aldo, recently made his bow at 135-pounds, where he lost a close, unanimous decision to the aforementioned Moraes at UFC 245 recently. Nevertheless, reports from Combate writer, Raphael Marinho, claim Cejudo will attempt his first defence of the bantamweight championship against Aldo in Brazil on May 9th. in Sao Paulo, in the main event of UFC 250.

32-year-old wrestling expert Cejudo has won five straight fights since his loss to Joseph Benavidez in 2016 - including a decision triumph over UFC flyweight best, and recent ONE championship Grand Prix victor, Demetrious Johnson. In January of last year, Cejudo also made short work of then 135-pound champion, T.J. Dillashaw in the first defence of the flyweight crown. Cejudo vacated the flyweight crown on December 20th. in order to focus on bantamweight exploits - with former-foe Benavidez facing Brazil's Deiveson Figueiredo in a vacant title match at the upcoming UFC Fight Night Norfolk event.

Despite his razor-thin defeat to Moraes in December, Brazilian icon, Aldo - will, in fact, leapfrog his compatriot into title contention, as he looks to add the bantamweight championship to a gleaming trophy cabinet. The 33-year-old left the featherweight ranks after a unanimous decision defeat to current champion, Alexander Volkanovksi. In a highly scrutinized weigh cut to a seemingly impossible 135-pounds for Aldo, the Manaus native managed to tip the scales with success and at a weight lower - looked incredibly fast and not as gunshy as previous versions of himself.

UFC 250 is expected to take place on May 9th. in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from the Ginásio do Ibirapuera - with Cejudo vs. Aldo expected to headline the event. At 135-pounds, Ketlen Vieira looks to return to winning ways when she meets with Marion Reneau, while Bethe Correia also makes her return, as she tackles Pannie Kianzad. In heavyweight action, Augusto Sakai clashes with Blagoy Ivanov. Former UFC heavyweight champion, Fabrício Werdum also makes his return, as he meets with veteran grappling extraordinaire, Aleksei Oleinik. In a trilogy meeting, Brazilian icons, Shogun Rua and Minotouro Nogueira are expected to meet.
