Dominick Cruz V Cody Garbrandt: What will go down.

The co-main event of UFC 207, sees Dominick Cruz defend his UFC Bantamweight championship against #5 ranked Bantamweight contender Cody 'No Love' Garbrandt. Cruz snatched the title from TJ Dillashaw back in January of this year, in a close bout, where Cruz picked up a split decision win. Cruz defended the Bantamweight crown back at UFC 199, winning his trilogy ending bout with the recently retired 'California Kid' Urijah Faber, looking sharp and as always, on top of his footwork game. KO artist Garbrandt on the other hand, is yet to be beaten in his professional career, currently 10-0, with 9 stoppages, knocking out the likes of Thomas Almeida and Takeya Mizugaki, most recently at UFC 202. Team Alpha Male's Garbrandt has an outstanding boxing background, but the big question is, how Cody gets into striking range with the hugely movement based Cruz. Cruz depends heavily on 'pot shots', which doesn't result in many finishes, evident from only 7 KO wins in his 23 fight career. Regardless of this highly unpopular technique with the casual fans, almost all 'die-hard' follows will admire Dominick's ability to continuously light up his opponent, many times causing frustration to set in, resulting in his opponent becoming more susceptible to takedowns due to Cruz's extensive amateur wrestling background. Garbrandt's lack of real top contender challenges may see this title shot come too soon for the 25 year-old, who may find himself quickly becoming incapable of dealing with Dominick's movement. Nevertheless, Cody only needs one shot to maybe finish Cruz, but it remains to be seen if Cody can combat Cruz's unusual style.

Dominick Cruz via unanimous decision.
