Kelvin Gastelum displays superior boxing to finish Tim Kennedy:
Tim Kennedy made his return to the octagon after his more than controversial loss to Yoel 'Soldier of God' Romero back in 2014, while Kelvin Gastelum was forced to move up to Middleweight from Welterweight after failing to making weight once again for his UFC 205 bout against Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone. US military fan favourite Kennedy, has a win over current UFC Middleweight champ Michael 'The Count' Bisping. 'Big' John McCarthy got us underway for the first round with Kennedy opening with an inside leg kick. Kennedy then against the fence, dragged Gastelum to the mat, before scoring an inside trip takedown. Gastelum was in a dangerous position. Kennedy was completely dominating the opening round, wearing down Kelvin with knees in the clinch. Gastelum escaped before landing a good right hand. Kelvin was using his boxing skills superbly toward the end of the round, forcing Kennedy to keep his distance. Gastelum scored a good kick to the body early on in the second. Kelvin spun from the double leg sprawl and took Kennedy's back. Kennedy was dominating the wrestling and grappling exchanges, while Gastelum was lighting Kennedy up o not he feet. Gastelum was taken down once again after a good lead uppercut. Kennedy, known for his gas tank, looked jaded as the second round continued. Gastelum landed some good shots toward the rounds conclusion, Kennedy in trouble. Gastelum boxing was slick and precise in the third, Kennedy looking in trouble. Kennedy missed with a frail wheel kick. Gastelum landed a big right hand to drop Tim in the third and forced John McCarthy to step in and call the fight.
