Neil Magny's attempt to finish sways the judges decision:
The featured bout of the UFC 207 prelims, seen a Welterweight bout between former division champ and accomplished wrestler Johny 'Bigg Rigg' Hendricks and 6 ft 3 in Brooklyn native Neil Magny. Once again, Hendricks missed weight for this bout, for the second time in a row, after he tipped the scale before his loss to Kelvin Gastelum. Magny is also coming off a shocking loss, succumbing to vicious elbows agaisnt Lorenz Larkin back at UFC 202, after a three fight win streak, beating Erick Silva, Kelvin Gastelum and recovering from an early scare to finish Hector Lombard in March, 2016. 'Big' John McCarthy got us underway with Hendricks looking to close the distance, with Neil holding an 11 inch reach advantage. Magny landed a good body kick after some forward pressure from Hendricks. Hendricks then scored a double leg takedown. Hendricks was pinning Magny down well, but wasn't entirely active from the guard of Magny. Magny then attempted a triangle, which was defended well by the former champ, as the first round ended. Hendricks started off the second round positively, forcing Magny to the mat after taking his back standing. Magny cleverly scrambled to get back to his feet, before Hendricks once again scored a takedown against the fence. Magny once more made it to his feet, before another deep double leg proved to be successful for 'Bigg Rigg'. Second round to Hendricks. Magny opened the third round with a decent front kick to the body. Magny was failing to utilise his huge 11 inch reach advantage, as Hendricks seen a double leg takedown defended by the Brooklyn native. Hendricks once more scored a big takedown with just under a minute left in the bout. Magny once more threw up a triangle, before landing huge elbows to the head of Hendricks. The judges awarded a unanimous decision win to Neil Magny.
