Welsh MMA star John Phillips finally makes UFC jump:
Described by many as the 'White Mike Tyson', Swansea born John Phillips, has made his long awaited and publicised jump to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, after weeks of speculation. The 31 year-old Middleweight, has an outstanding mixed martial arts record of 21-6, bagging 18 KO wins in the process, earning his comparison to the hard hitting Heavyweight Tyson. The Welsh man, who has only gone the distance once, trains at Straight Blast Gym Ireland, under reknowed coach John Kavanagh, and current UFC Lightweight and former Featherweight champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor. Phillips' first bout in the organisation has already been chalked up, with Brazilian Middleweight Marcos Rogerio de Lima, serving as the welcoming party for the much anticipated debut of Phillips, at UFC Fight Night Denver at the end of January.
