Cub Swanson wins Fight of the Year contender against DooHo Choi:
Veteran former UFC Featherweight title challenger Cub Swanson, faced a dangerous matchup against 'The Korean Superboy' DooHo Choi. Apart from his young looks, Choi has some of the heaviest hands in the entire UFC, but Cub Swanson will be his toughest challenge to date. A win for the #4 ranked Swanson could easily see a title challenge in the near future. The opening round seen Choi open with some good knees in the clinch. Cub was getting tagged by Choi's lean right hand in the opening minute. Swanson was exchanging well with Choi. Swanson then again struck with a overhand right. Choi tripped Swanson, before the Californian landed a good leg kick. Close first round. Swanson was attempting to force DooHo backwards before the Korean tagged him. Swanson then seen some more success landing big shots dropping Choi, before Choi came back with a flurry of his own. Swanson somehow survied a big flurry to score and inside trip and passed to full mount. Choi scrambled from a rear naked choke attempt from Swanson. Swanson then landed an unbelievable cart-wheel kick before Choi came back with a shot of his own. Swanson then produced another punishing flurry, landing a huge spinning back-fist in the process. What a round. The third and final round started with more of the same, Swanson uncorking that right hand. Choi tagged Cub with some big combinations before Swanson passed to half guard, only for Choi to before the mount attempt from Cub. Swanson as lighting Choi up big time, before landing a hip toss takedown. Swanson dropped Choi with seconds in the round left, the South Korean somehow survived. Fight of the Year candidate for sure. DooHo Choi is a monster. The judges awarded a unanimous decision to Cub Swanson, as he inflicted DooHo Choi's first ever UFC defeat.
