Demetrious Johnson picks up decision win after early scare:
The main event of the Ultimate Fighter 22 Tournament of Champions: Finale, sees a UFC Flyweight title bout between Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson, and tournament victor, Tim Elliott. DJ scored an impressive first round KO over Henry 'The Messenger' Cejudo, while Tim Elliott found a way past Hiromasa Ogikubo to earn his shot against the pound-for-pound #1 Johnson. Both men looked cool and composed as they made their walks. Herb Dean got us underway for the first of five scheduled rounds. DJ opened with a leg kick, before Tim Elliott Lund up in side control. Elliott then looked to shock the world, as he locked in a guillotine, before transitioning to a D'arce choke, before Johnson somehow escaped. Johnson then looked to set up a D'larce of his own before Elliott got back to his feet. Tim Elliott then scored a beautiful left hand which knocked down DJ, before winding back up in side control. Round one to Elliott, and what a round. Johnson then landed some good leg kicks and some body shot with Elliott looking cool and relaxed. Johnson then defended another guillotine attempt from Tim Elliott. 'Mighty Mouse' then looked for an arm triangle which was defended well by Tim Elliott. Elliott showed an immense grappling game, defending brilliantly. Johnson then landed some good elbows from back standing against Elliott. Round two to DJ. Round three opened with DJonce again taking his back, looking for a rear-naked choke, but once again Elliott defended. Elliott then tripped DJ, before landing some smashing elbows with Johnson in side control once again. Elliott still defended before DJ wound up in half guard. Elliott then triangled his legs, literally tying DJ up. Third round to Johnson. The fourth round began with a karate style from Elliott before, Johnson then looked as if he was seconds away from winning, when he locked in a rear-naked choke, but the durable Tim Elliott somehow escaped. DJ then set up a kimura which then transitioned into a armbar, but Elliott somehow survived. Round four to Johnson. The fifth and final round began with Elliott landing a huge double leg takedown. 'Mighty Mouse' then transitioned into side control and once again searched for a fight ending kimura, although Elliott still defended. The fight goes the distance with DJ taking the fifth and final round. The judges handed Demetrious Johnson a unanimous victory, making it 9 successful title defences consecutively for 'Mighty Mouse'.
