Conor McGregor to be stripped of Featherweight strap, with Pettis and Holloway to battle for Interim title:

Current UFC Lightweight and Featherweight champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor, may have his 145lbs title taken from him, due to a lack of activity in the division. Former champion José Aldo is said to inherit the title, from the man who took it from him, while UFC 206 Featherweight's Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis are rumoured to battle for the interim title after Daniel Cormier's and Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson's Light Heavyweight title bout fell though. McGregor's ventures against Nate Diaz at UFC 196 and 202 at Welterweight, and his most recent UFC 205 Lightweight win over Eddie Alvarez, has seen a backlog of contenders pile up in the Featherweight division. As a result of inactivity, a UFC Interim Featherweight title was introduced at UFC 200, where José Aldo won a unanimous decision against American wrestler Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar. Aldo is expected to be promoted to undisputed champion, while fellow top contenders Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis clash for the Interim title. Another spanner may be thrown into the works in the Lightweight division, with McGregor expected to be out of action until after May, with him and Dee Devlin expecting their first child. If the UFC hierarchy and brass elect to strip McGregor of his Featherweight strap, as expected, the Crumlin born superstar will be more than unhappy with the decision, as he seeks a Welterweight title expedition against Tyron Woodley, as he looks to become the first ever three weight world champion held simultaneously.
