Rafael Dos Anjos V Tony Ferguson: What just happened.
The main event of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 Finale seen a dream matchup between former Lightweight title holder Rafael Dos Anjos and Tony 'El Cucuy' Ferguson. A win for either men will more than likely set up a title eliminator against the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Michael Johnson's bout at UFC 205. Herb Dean got us underway for the first of the 5 scheduled rounds, with both men touching gloves. Ferguson was looking to keep out of RDA's range and use his reach advantage. Dos Anjos utilised some early leg kicks, similar to his bouts with Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis. Dos Anjos landed a decent left hand which got the Californian's attention. Fusion landed a decent leg kick of his own followed by an elbow. Dos Anjos landed some good left and right hooks. Dos Anjos again targeted the legs, sweeping Ferguson to the mat. Dos Anjos kept his distance and landed when the opportunity arose, first round to RDA. The second round seen Ferguson applying the pressure, looking for a body kick. An unintentional eye poke from Ferguson forced a break in the second round action. Ferguson was landing some good leg kicks of his own. Ferguson momentarily had RDA rocked after a good right hook, as the second round came to a conclusion, second round to 'El Cucuy'. The third round began with Ferguson aggressive and hunting down RDA before the Brazilian levelled changed and took down the American. RDA landed a good combination with just under 2 minutes left in the third round. Dos Anjos ended the third round with a flurry. The fourth round started with Ferguson landing leg kicks, and keeping RDA at bay. Ferguson landed a great knee from range to keep Dos Anjos on his toes. Ferguson missed with his patented leg sweep as he looked to set up a submission attempt. Ferguson was landing well, and also defended some takedowns from the Brazilian, Tony again went for a leg sweep, before landing a good combinations, round four to Tony. The fifth and final round looked as if Dos Anjos would need to finish Ferguson, in order to win. Ferguson was almost dancing at stages, and landing some snapping jabs on RDA's chin. Ferguson once again kept the pressure on as he cruised to a unanimous decision victory.
