Kelvin Gastelum and Thiago Alves to receive NYSAC suspensions:

UFC Welterweight Kelvin Gastelum and Lightweight Thiago Alves have both received suspensions from the New York State Atlectic Comission, after both fighters failed to show up to the official weigh-ins for their scheduled UFC 205 bouts. Gastelum is once again facing a spell at Middleweight for his failure to make weight, after his bout with Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone was scrapped after the Ultimate Fighter winner missed weight by 7 pounds. Former UFC Welterweight title contender Thiago 'Pitbull' Alves also failed to make the Lightweight limit for his bout with Jim Miller, forcing the American to pile on the pounds in order for the contest to remain on the card, and make sure he was at a maximum of 5 pounds of Alves' weight on the night of the bout. The NYSAC elected to hand down a 6 month suspension to Gastelum, while Alves was hit with a 3 month ban. Alves told how he plans to continue at Lightweight in "March", and interestingly, blamed the failed weight cut on food poisoning he recieved earlier in the week leading up to the Madison Square Garden card. Gastelum's manager Ali Abdelaziz told how he and his client plan to appeal the ban, which would see Kelvin out of action until May, 2017.
