Lyoto Machida receives 18 month suspension:
Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Lyoto 'The Dragon' Machida, has received an 18 month suspension from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, after his admittance of taking a banded substance. Before his scheduled bout against Dan 'Hendo' Henderson, the Brazilian told how he didn't realise the banned substance was in fact banned in and out of competition, and because USADA treat the admittance of taking a banned substance, the same way as if a fighter had failed a drug test, Machida will receive a retroactive suspension, which will see him out of action until next November at the earliest. This case is relatable to former Pride Heavyweight Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipović, with the Rizin Fighter telling how he had taken a human growth hormone days after USADA notified the Croatian and the Ultimate Fighting Championship of the potential anti-doping violation.
