Raquel Pennington scores upset win over Miesha Tate:
The first bout of the main card of UFC 205, sees former UFC Women's Banatmaweight champion Miesha 'Cupcake' Tate, take on Ultimate Fighter season 18 contestant 'Rocky' Raquel Pennington. Tate lost her title at UFC 200 to Amanda Nunes, while Raquel Pennington found a way past Elizabeth Philipps in her previous contest. Dan Miragliotta got us underway, with Raquel looking to demonstrate her striking skills. Pennington was using her jab very effectively, maybe stunning Miesha early on. Pennington then somehow lifted Miesha in the air whist locking in a guillotine, before Tate escaped and landed a takedown. The round ended, with Miesha on Pennington's back. The second round seen Pennington landing jabs and uppercut well. Miesha clinched up against the clinch, with Pennington again using her uppercut well. The majority of the second was dominated in the clinch by Pennington, before Tate landed a good shot of the exit. The third and final round as toy spent on the ground, with Miesha switching between a triangle choke and arm bar. Pennington landed a late takedown to surely give her the decision win.
