Fedor Emelianenko to meet Matt Mitrione at Bellator 172:

Long regarded as the greater pound-for-pound mixed martial artist the world has witnessed, 'The Last Emperor' Fedor Emelianenko, has signed a multi fighter contract with Scott Coker's Bellator, where he will first go to battle against former UFC Heavyweight Matt Mitrione in February 2017. Fedor, who has never featured in either Bellator or the Ultimate Fighting Championship before, was widely rumoured to face former UFC heavyweight Shane Carwin at Rizin's Grand Prix at the end of the year, before signing for Coker's company. The former Pride heavyweight champion Emelianenko, holds notable wins over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman, Mark Hunt and Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic, looked a different man when he faced Brazilian Fabio Maldonado at EFN 50, winning a hugely controversial decision. Emelianenko's first real professional loss came against Brazil favourite Fabricio Werdum in StrikeForce, before Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva and Dan 'Hendo' Henderson finished the Russian. Matt Mitrione on the other hand, has wins over Kimbo Slice and first round stoppages against Derrick Lewis and Gabriel Gonzaga, but losses on his record against Brendan 'Big Brown' Schaub and Ben Rothwell hampered his time in the UFC.
