'The Eagle' continues unbeaten run with kimura finish:
A Lightweight clash between #2 ranked Lightweight Khabib 'The Eagle' Nurmagomedov and #6 ranked striker Michael 'The Menace' Johnson was up next for UFC 205's Prelims. Johnson would be looking to become the first man to beat Dagestan's Nurmagomedov in a potential UFC Lightweight title eliminator. 'Big' John McCarthy got us underway in an intriguing matchup. Johnson opened up with a good leg kick, pressing Khabib as well. Johnson was landing good combinations, and hurt Khabib badly early on, before Nurmagomedov land an inevitable takedown, and from mounted crucifix laid down some crushing ground and pound. Khabib then from full mount, at the cage, came very close to finishing Johnson, but the American somehow made it out of the round. The second round began with Johnson looking more cautious. Johnson stuffed multiple takedown attempts, and on one ocasssion attempted a guillotine, before Khabib once again slipped into mounted crucifix and took his back, laying down a some truly terrifying ground and pound. Johnson once again somehow survived as he made it to the third and final round. Johnson as almost immediately as taken down, before Nurmagomedov continued strike form the top. Then Nurmagomedov passed into side control where he expertly locked in a deep kimura, as John McCarthy ended the bout.
