Fenerbache V Manchester United:

Jose Mourinho looked to put another disappointing result behind them after their 0-0 draw with Burnley last weekend, when his Manchester United side travelled to the ever hostile Turkey to face Fenerbache in the reverse fixture. Despite having 37 attempts against Sean Dyche's stubborn Burnley, United couldn't find a way past former goalkeeper Tom Heaton who was in inspired form. Robin van Persie was replaced by former Marseille striker Moussa Sow for the hosts, as Morgan Schneiderlin and Anthony Martial returned, as Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were afforded a break on the bench. Armenian forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan finally returned to the squad as Mourinho named him on the bench as he removed from injury. Fenerbache got us underway in Turkey, and almost immediatley took an outrageous lead. A great delivery from the left found Moussa Sow who seen his audacious over head kick sail past De Gea to give his side a precious lead inside 5 minutes, poor marking from Blind and Rojo. A free kick was awarded to United with Ander Herrera looking to create something, with Sow heading clear with ease., and moments later again from a Wayne Rooney corner. United were dominating possession since the early wonder strike, but the home side were defending stoutly. On loan Sunderland winger Jermaine Lens drew a foul from Morgan Schneiderlin as the Frenchman was issued a deserved yellow card. Lens' delivery was headed harmlessly over as Fencerbache looked to extend their lead. Both holding midfielders Herrera and Schneiderlin found themselves in the book early on with Spaniard Herrera bringing down Brazil native Souza. A glorious opportunity for the equaliser fell to Wayne Rooney inside 20 minutes after Martial's clever reverse pass pick out the English man but a terrible first touch allowed Marin Skrtel to tidy up, Rooney demonstrating his lack of confidence. More bad news for Mourinho as Paul Pogba looked in some pain, clutching his leg after a hefty challenge. Winger Volkan Sen also picked up a knock moments later. Rooney's corner is momentarily suspended after Paul Pogba went down once again forcing Jose Mourinho into an early change as Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic replaced the Frenchman, statement of intent form the 'Special One'. Good vision from Marcus Rashford nearly picked out Ibrahimovic but goalkeeper Volkan Demiral did well to intercept. A tense situation between Ibrahimovic and former Lille defender Simon Kjær forced an intervention with Zlatan grabbing Kjær's neck. Rooney also gets involved with Souza later on as Demiral in booked for his troubles. Half time at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

Mourinho made a change for the start of the second with Juan Mata replacing the disappointing Morgan Schneiderlin as United looked to add some creativity to their 'Pogba-less' midfield. A good spell of possession is eventually squandered by yet another Matteo Darmian foul, finding it hard to get to grips with the physicality of the tie. A good ball from Martial found the head of Wayne Rooney who's header floated wide with Ibrahimovic lurking. Another telling run from Martial set up yet another chance with Juan Mata eventually scuing wide. Fenerbache had their second after Zlatan brought down Mehmet Topal, and Jermaine Lens fired an excellent free kick which caught De Gea cold, 2-0 Fenerbache. Marcus Rashford was sacrificed for a returning Henrikh Mkhitaryan who slotted in the #10 role. Mkhitaryan won a corner after his introduction which was easily gathered by Demiral. Former Spartak Moscow and West Ham United forward Emmanuel Emenike was introduced for the home side with just over 20 minutes to play. A rapid counter attack nearly seen a third for Fenerbache with Jermaine Lens finding Emenike who seen the ball become stuck under his feet with De Gea standing his ground and making the one on one save to give United a glimmer of hope. A poor pass from Mkhitaryan allows Emenike some space to run into as the Nigerian's edge of the bloc drive was saved by De Gea. Another fantastic Lens run nearly see a third with Emenike inches from scoring on the lunge. De Gea was also on hand to deny Moussa Sow who was beaten to the ball by the Spaniard. Roman Neustadter replaced the booked Alper with 20 minutes to go. With just under 5 minutes to play, goalscorer Moussa Sow was replaced Ismail. United suddenly had a lifeline through a fantastic Wayne Rooney strike from range with stoppage time looming, 2-1. 4 minutes were added on for United pressing for an equaliser. Herrera won United a late corner with Rooney rising highest to head toward goal with Ismail defending brillanty. Herrera then seen his shot deflected by Skrtel with Mkhitaryan's delivery caught by Demiral. Fenerbache withstood a late flurry from United as Fenerbache picked up all three points at home.
