UFC president Dana White, recently explained how former two-weight world champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor was questioning when he could possibly return to the Octagon. It now seems the Dubliner has a particular date in mind.

Last night on Twitter, McGregor went complete scorched earth on lightweight counterparts, Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson, arch-rival, Khabib Nurmgomedov, and potential opponent, Justin Gaethje. He's now also dropped a timeframe for his return to active competition. The 31-year-old made his first Octagon appearance in over fifteen months at UFC 246 in January - finishing 'Cowboy' Cerrone in just forty-seconds in a welterweight main event.

During last night's tirade, McGregor explained how former-foe, Khabib, is "the biggest bottle fighter in the game" - telling how he believes he awaits recently minted interim 155-pound gold holder, Gaethje next - rather than Nurmagomedov. The proverbial ball now appears to lay in Gaethje's court, however, McGregor seems confident on a return this summer.

"See you in July 🇮🇪☘️🇺🇸"

The SBG mainstay was tentatively scheduled to meet with Gaethje in a highly-anticipated, well overdue matchup this summer, until the recent UFC 249 headliner fiasco - placed a spanner in the works, somewhat. The aforementioned Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were set to meet at the fifth time of asking, however, travel restrictions amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, prevented Khabib's reentry to the United States from Russia.

On Saturday night last, Ferguson instead tackled Gaethje on short-notice, with interim gold up for spoils. Over the course of almost five rounds, 'The Highlight' exacted a punishing beat down of 'El Cucuy' - resulting in Herb Dean's decision to call a half to the affair, midway through the final frame. Although Gaethje has remained adamant that he will unify the lightweight titles against Khabib next, could the allure of a clash with developing rival, McGregor, be enough to switch his attention?
