A welterweight showcase between surging contenders, Neil Magny, and Anthony Rocco Martin, is slated to feature at the UFC 250 pay-per-view event on June 6th. - with the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, leading the line as potential suitors to host the card.
New York native, Magny was recently cleared of wrongdoing after he was flagged by USADA for a potential anti-doping violation - returning to take a dominant win over rising contender, Li Jingliang at UFC 248 in March - his staggering fifteenth win in the division. Illinois born grappler Martin, also returned to the win column recently, taking a unanimous decision win over Ramazan Emeev back in November of last year. News of the pairing was initially reported by MMA Junkie reporters, Mike Bohn and Farah Hannoun.
The decision win in November marked Magny's first appearance since a 2018 loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night Buenos Aires. Since his Octagon bow back at UFC 157 in February 2013, the Elevation Fight Team trainee has managed notable victories over the likes of Tims Means, Alex Garcia, Erick Silva, former interim title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum, former Bellator middleweight best, Héctor Lombard, as well as former welterweight champions, Johny Hendricks, and Carlos Condit. In twenty-two career victories, Magny has scored ten stoppages.
Martin, 30, has reinvigorated his career massively, following a move to 170-pounds back in April of 2018. In six outings, Martin has only lost to Demian Maia, a former welterweight and middleweight title challenger. Victories have come against Keita Nakamura, Ryan LaFlare, Jake Matthews, Sérgio Moraes, and the aforementioned Emeev. Martin made his Octagon debut back in February 2014 at UFC 169, with nine career victories coming via submission.
