A pairing of Brown and Baeza was first expected to feature at UFC Fight Night Columbus on March 28th. until the card was shelved, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Ohio native, Brown, has spent a lengthy spell under the promotional banner - all the way back to 2008. The 39-year-old managed to secure himself a welterweight title eliminator back in July of 2014 - losing a unanimous decision to future titleholder, 'Ruthless' Robbie Lawler. Before his aforementioned victory over Saunders, Brown finished fellow veteran, Diego Sanchez with a brutal elbow toward the end of 2017. The former Elevation Fight Team trainee was forced from a meeting with former interim 170-pound champion, Carlos Condit back in 2017 - after tearing his ACL. Brown has managed notable wins over 'Wonderboy' Thompson, Tim Means, Erick Silva, Mike Pyle, Jordan Mein, and Mike Swick.
27-year-old prospect, Baeza - will look to extend his win streak in the Octagon to two, similarly to opponent Brown. A victory for the MMA Masters product over somebody as recognisable as 'The Immortal' would be a major feather for his cap. Baeza has made short work of the majority of his seven professional triumphs. He's managed to keep his competition time rather short - lodging four separate first-round knockouts.
The UFC Fight Night event is expected to take place on May 16th. from the VyStar Arena in Jacksonville, Florida - with a heavyweight rebooking between decorated kickboxer, Alistair Overeem and heavy-hitting finisher, Walt Harris taking main event status.
