Katlyn Chookagian Returns, Meets Antonina Shevchenko at UFC Event on May 30th.

A high-stakes matchup at flyweight is expected to take place at a UFC Fight Night event on May 30th. - as former title challenger, Katlyn 'Blonde Fighter' Chookagian returns from her title challenge defeat against Valentina Shevchenko - as she takes on the throne holders older sister, Antonina 'La Pantera'. The event is planned to feature at the UFC Apex in 'Sin City'.

Pennslyvania native, Chookagian - as mentioned, made her premier appearance in a promotional title bout, dropping a third-round knockout, snapping her two-fight win streak. Shevchenko, on the other hand, returned to winning ways, scoring a rear-naked choke triumph over Lucie Pudilová at UFC Fight Night Newark in August of last year. News of the pairing was initially reported by MMA Junkie writer, Mike Bohn.

Renzo Gracie Combat Team mainstay, Chookagian - suffered both on the feet and off her back against Valentina Shevchenko in February, before an eventual stoppage. Since her return to 125-pounds, the 31-year-old has gone 4-2 - scoring wins over former Invicta FC flyweight champion, Jennifer Maia, expected title challenger, Joanne Calderwood, one-time bantamweight title chaser, Alexis Davis, and Mara Romero Borella. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt made her first UFC appearance back in July of 2016 - taking out former Invicta FC 135-pound best, Lauren Murphy.

Kickboxing ace, Shevchenko arrived in the promotion - via a second-round stoppage of Jaymee Nievara on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contenders Series back in June of 2018. Going 2-1 since, the 35-year-old has managed victories over Ji Yeon Kim, and the previously mentioned Pudilová - dropping her only Octagon defeat to sport veteran, Roxanne Modafferi in a close split decision judging at UFC Fight Night Saint Petersburg. In a leap in competition, the #12 ranked Shevchenko takes on Chookagian, who sits at #2 at flyweight.
