Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou continue verbal back-and-forth ahead of potential meeting

A highly-anticipated matchup between current UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon 'Bones' Jones, and perennial heavyweight contender, Francis 'The Predator' Ngannou seems to gather legs as days go by. Promotional president, Dana White isn't completely sold on the idea of both men meeting each other, questioning if the pair are actually willing to share the Octagon. Nevertheless, the two continue to trade barbs on Twitter.

Ngannou has claimed he will knock Jones out, while the 205-pound kingpin, remains adamant he's overthrown his competition at light heavyweight - as speculation of a move to the heavyweight ranks continues to simmer in the background. Yesterday evening, the two clashed on Twitter once again.

In response, Jones poked fun at Ngannou's less than memorable meeting with Derrick Lewis back in 2018, before claiming he would "expose" the Cameroonian.

"First you can save the rest of your tongue pictures for your other homies and yes I'm right here, just waking up from watching that Derrick Lewis fight again. You ain't scaring nobody, I saw your heart. You're a big old mouse, I'll expose you."

Jones, 32, was recently arrested for DWI, negligent use of a firearm, driving with no proof of insurance, and possession of an open container in Albequerque in March. After a guilty plea, Jones was sentenced to four days house arrest, must complete forty-eight hours of community service, ninety days minimum of outpatient therapy, and was placed on one-year supervised probation.

In February, the Jackson-Wink native lodged the third defence of his second reign as light heavyweight titleholder, taking a contentious unanimous decision against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in Houston, Texas. A rematch between Jones and Reyes was tentatively discussed by the promotion for an event later this year, however, following his statement win over Corey Anderson in Rio Ranco the week after Jones' defence, Poland's Jan Bƚachowicz has established himself as a title contender.

For Batié native, Ngannou, the 33-year-old is fast approaching his second title opportunity with the promotion. Following a two-fight skid, which included a title defeat to Stipe Miocic, and then a forgettable decision loss to the aforementioned Lewis, Ngannou has embarked on a devastating four-fight win streak.

The Xtreme Couture trainee finished Curtis Blaydes for the second time in his career, before handing division icons and former gold-holders, Cain Velasquez, and Junior dos Santos first-round defeats. At UFC 249 on May 9th. - Ngannou halted the surge of Jairzinho Rozenstruik with a shocking barrage of strikes inside just twenty-seconds.
