A short-notice welterweight pairing between surging finishers, Daniel 'D-Rod' Rodriguez, and promotional debutante, Gabriel 'Gifted' Green - is in the works to feature on at a UFC event this coming Saturday, with the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada expected to host the card.

California native, Rodriguez was initially scheduled to meet with divisional newcomer, Kevin 'Trailblazer' Holland at the event, however, that pairing was shelved after Holland was unable to be medically cleared to compete. Holland squared off with Anthony Hernandez just ten days ago, taking a knockout win within the opening forty-seconds.

Making his promotional bow back in February, Rodriguez scored a second-round standing guillotine triumph over veteran, Tim Means. Making his first Octagon walk this weekend, Green is riding a six-fight winning run into this clash. Sources close to MMA Power Hour confirmed the expected matchup, following an initial report by MMA Junkie reporter, Nolan King.

On the crest of a seven-fight unbeaten run. Rodriguez featured on Dana White's Tuesday Nights Contenders Series, taking a unanimous decision win against Rico Farrington back in July of last year. After the victory, Rodriguez tackled Quinton McCottrell under the SMASH Global banner - earning a second-frame stoppage via strikes. The Tapout LA prospect was then snapped up by the UFC - improving to 11-1 with the aforementioned submission of Means, in another short-notice feature.

San Pedro native, Green - like opponent, Rodriguez, is entering Saturday night with a significant win streak on the line. A win streak stretching to six outings - with six finishes to boot, the 27-year-old last faltered against UFC lightweight, Jalin Turner back at Bellator 170 in January of 2017. From eleven outings, the Downey-based finisher has yet to go the distance.
