Andrei Arlovski V Josh Barnett: what will go down:
Former UFC Heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski takes on veteran submission specialist Josh Barnett in the main event of UFC Fight Night Hamburg. Arlovski last fought at UFC Fight Night Rotterdam, coming up short against now title challenger Alistair 'The Reem' Overeem. Barnett who's competed in many organisations including StrikeForce, PRIDE and DREAM, last fought and lost against 'Big' Ben Rothwell after coming off a win against Roy 'Big Country' Nelson. With both men coming off losses, this bout could prove to be the saviour of their career. Former champ Arlovski holds impressive victories over Brazil favourite Fabricio Werdum, Brendan Schaub, Tim Sylvia and Frank Mir, has vicious knockout power, and being a heavyweight, his power will last long after he retires. #7 ranked in the Heavyweight division, Arlovski would give anything to get another run at the title before his retirement and an impressive victory over Barnett would put the wheels in motion on a potential title run. Barnett holds an incredible 34-8 professional record with 20 submission victories to his name, also beating Frank Mir, Mark Hunt and former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champ Randy 'The Natural' Couture in his highly decorated career. Barnett, now 38 faced similar circumstances as Arlovski as a win for the American could possibly see a title run. In my opinion, Andrei Arlovski's power may prove to be too much to handle for Barnett's deteriorating chin, but if the fight ends up on the mat, Barnett should be more than capable of securing a submission victory.
