Middlesborough v Tottenham Hotspur:
Aitor Karanka's Middlesborough side welcomed Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham to the Riverside as they looked to recover from their 3-1 drubbing at the hands of Everton. Spurs on the other hand looked solid against Sunderland last Sunday on their way to a 1-0 win. Vincent Janssen came in for the injured Harry Kane and the away side had the first attempt on goal with Dele Ali producing a save Victor Valdes early on. From the corner, some good play from Janssen led to the opener as the Dutchman slipped in Heung Min-Son who beat two defenders before beating Valdes to grab the opener. The South Korean forward grabbed a brace inside 20 minutes after a mix up allowed him to cleverly finish to make it 2-0. Spurs had a penalty claim turned down when it appeared legitimate as Christian Stuani brought down Dele Ali in the area. Ali and Moussa Sissoko should have made it three and four nil before the break as both men seen chances wasted and then saved respectively. After the break, Adama Traore introduced some munched needed excitement for the Middlesborough side as he nearly picked out Jordan Rhodes after a great run. Stewart Downing delivery into the area from a free kick was very inviting as Ben Gibson towered above Sissoko and found what proved to be a late consolation as the game finished 2-1.
