West Ham United v Southampton:

Slaven Bilic's West Ham looked to put an end to their torrid start to the season with a home victory over Claude Peul's Southampton. West Ham held only one victory in the league heading into the game with 'The Saints' finding their form, in no small part to the form of former QPR hotshot Charlie Austin. A quiet first half at the London Stadium with no real clear cut chances for either side, with West Ham having a penalty claim turned down by Jon Moss as Simone Zaza went down under pressure from Euro 2016 winner Cedric Soares. West Ham created the best chance of the first half so far when Dimitri Payet's corner was flicked on by Zaza but Michail Antonio was unable to get to the ball as the chance came and went. at the other end, Southampton had the ball in the net father some build up play. Stevan Davis released Dusan Tadic down the flank who played in oncoming full back Ryan Bertrand and English man found his compatriot Charlie Austin who grabbed his fourth in four to give Southampton the lead at the end of the first half. Southampton looked to kill of 'The Hammers' before the end of the half as Nathan Redmond's shot was parried to Cedric who could only find the side netting. Southampton came fast out of the blocks in the second half with Adrian first denying Jose Fonte and then making a standard enough save against Dusan Tadic. Simone Zaza was issued a yellow card for simulation after he fell to the ground as Oriol Romeu pulled out of the tackle.  A blistering charge from a dominant Southampton side put the game demons all doubt when Redmond nipped in to steal the pockets of Kouyate with Austin finding Tadic who rounded Adrian cleverly before slotting home with ease. West Ham tried their best for a way back into the game with Payet firing wide and Zaza seen his effort cleared off the line by former Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk. Adrian was again under the kosh making saves from Ward-Prowse and Emile Hojbjerg before the former found a late third after a great run Davis picked out Ward Prowse who kept his head to slot home and inflict another defeat on the under pressure Slaven Bilic.
